* Seminar "SCoPE Seminar: Talking the Walk: Narratives of Online Learner Collaboration"
Facilitator: Paul Beaufait
March 22 - April 2
What are the principles of collaboration? How do we best foster collaboration online? What are some tools to support collaborative projects? During this 12-day seminar Paul invites you to share your best tales of online student collaboration and then reflect together upon emergent themes, pathways, tensions, & havens. We hope to collect narratives which will generate material for publication within a Collaborative Book Project on Teaching and Learning Online now underway.

Please join us to both share your stories as well as collect ideas for your own teaching.

* Seminar "The Role of Online Communities in Developing the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning"
Facilitator: Liz Wallace
We are familiar with the idea that scholarly activities revolve around research disciplines: science, literature, mathematics, social sciences and so on. But how do we foster scholarship as it applies to teaching and learning? During this seminar SCoPE members considered the question of whether an online community can play a role in developing the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning. This is a new field of scholarship; whether an online community can support it is an unanswered question, and the discussion has only just begun. In fact, as we learned from this seminar, defining SoTL and coming to terms with what it means to us is also a challenge. A Wikipedia entry has been initiated and we hope to see this definition continue to evolve!

An annotated bibliography on the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning began to form during this seminar, and now resides in the Simon Fraser University SIG where it will continue to grow.
