Welcome to the Pimping Your Post seminar!

About our facilitators
Tracy Roberts is an instructional designer for Royal Roads University. She works from her home office on Okanagan Lake, outside of Vernon, British Columbia, Canada. Tracy is also chair of the steering committee for the BC Educational Technology Users Group (ETUG).

Gina Bennett supports distance learning for students, faculty and management at College of the Rockies in Cranbrook, British Columbia, Canada, and is past chair of ETUG.

About the seminar
This discussion will be a little different from typical SCoPE seminars. Our facilitators are calling it 'sandboxing', which gives me the impression we'll be rolling up our sleeves!

This event is organized in collaboration with the ETUG.

Participating in SCoPE seminars
SCoPE seminars are free and open to the public, and registration is not required. You are welcome to come and go according to your schedule and interests. To contribute you will need to create an account on the SCoPE site -- a quick process. Are you new to SCoPE or wondering how to manage your participation? Check this resource.

If you have any questions about participating in SCoPE don't hesitate to ask here in the forum, or get in touch with me directly:

The second live session we are scheduling next week to demonstrate and discuss some ways to use online tools for online interviews is using Vidyo. Based on the Using Vidyo for Online Interviews Doodle poll results, there are a couple times that work well for 11 of the 12 people who voted. The kind folks at Vidyo have offered to host 2 sessions to accommodate as many people as possible. approve Both will be recorded.

Where: VidyoConferencing Room (URL to follow)
When: Friday, January 29, 2010 at:
1) 19:00 GMT - Check time and date for your time zone
2) 21:00 GMT - Check time and date for your time zone

You will need an audio set up, including a microphone. I have also set up a Backnoise chat so that we will have a way to communicate by text:
http://backnoise.com/?eResearch
(Or go to Backnoise.com and enter 'eResearch' where it says 'conversation name'.)
There is no login required for this chat tool.

Janet will be posting more details about Vidyo and how to prepare for this session.

As Janet mentioned we are scheduling synchronous sessions next week to demonstrate and discuss some ways to use online tools for online interviews. Based on the Using Elluminate for Online Interviews Doodle poll results, 21:00 GMT works for 12 of the 18 people who voted.

Sorry we can't accommodate everyone! The session will be recorded, and Janet has generously offered to schedule a second session if there is interest. approve

Where: SCoPE Elluminate Room
When: Monday, January 25, 2010 at 21:00 GMT - Check time and date for your time zone

You will need an audio set up, ideally with a microphone. If you have not previously attended an Elluminate Live web conference, please take 5 minutes well before the session to visit www.elluminate.com/support and follow the steps for first time users. A small Java applet will request access to your PC the first time you use Elluminate, but only the first time.

Here is a tinyurl for the Elluminate Room which is handy if you're inviting colleagues by email or twitter: http://tinyurl.com/yfvjw4o
