Last year during OCE2011 planning excellent events was our theme, and we captured our "commitment wall" in a time capsule, to be opened one year later. (Well, we could open it any time, but you get the idea!)

Do you see your commitment on the wall? How did you do? I sort of wish I could switch my name around with this one so I could have a big sense of accomplishment! "I will practice practice practice and repeat".

Is there something on that list you would like to know more about?

Just a couple more days and the online community enthusiasts will be gathering for our 4th annual! Here are a few housekeeping details:

Somewhere I saw the wrong street address posted for the Online Community Enthusiasts event, so here's the address again to make sure we end up in the right place!

SFU Woodward's, 149 E. Hastings Street room #2555

This page has some good transit and parking information, as well as a map: http://sfuwoodwards.ca/index.php/contact

Coffee and light breakfast arrive at 8:30, and we'll get things underway at 9:00 am.

It looks like about 40 enthusiasts will be participating. This is about the time I start hearing about cancellations, so I expect the number to drop somewhat. That being said, the tally could even out if you bring a friend. Just be sure to RSVP so I can make sure we have enough viddles!

We ended up using etherpad to flesh out the details of the day, so I'll merge that with the agenda. As Alice MacGillivray mentioned in a recent conversation, OCE is "deliberately under-designed". I think I'll use that phrase every time I'm scrambling at the last minute to get things organized! :-)

Between this forum and twitter (#OCE2012) we'll try to hold our online presence together and fill in the details. Questions? Please ask!

Just 10 more days until the 4th annual Gathering of Online Community Enthusiasts!

First, I took the liberty of "subscribing" you to this forum if you RSVP'd as a YES or MAYBE. I know some of you will hate me for that, but don't worry, it can be undone!

Also, the catering order is due tomorrow, so now is the time to remind your friends and colleagues about this event! Check the RSVP list, and make any adjustments. (Not a total panic, we can fine-tune the food order this time next week.)

Here's a profile of enthusiasts coming to the event:

  • Faculty, Educational Developers, CoP Developers, from Post Secondary Education (BC, Ontario, and Washington)
  • Community Leaders in BC Government (Health, Labour/Open Gov, Public Engagement)
  • Community Leaders in not-for-profit sector
  • Independent consultants
  • CoP managers/facilitators at private companies
  • Co-op students
  • Researchers
  • Educational Technologists
Have I missed anyone?

Apologies about the "test" messages earlier this week. We were experiencing some issues with the forum subscriptions on the SCoPE site. Hopefully it's all fixed now!

This week we are moving into our third topic in this series:
Campus-Based Educational Development: Directions

Please join the session today at 10am PDT (your time zone) in Blackboard Collaborate: http://urls.bccampus.ca/scopeevents

Details about this series and links to archives and resources are all in the forum description here: http://scope.bccampus.ca/mod/forum/view.php?id=8987
