Create a long form article
Learning Objective:
Participants will use Generative AI to create structured, informative articles, assessing the content for accuracy, potential biases, and coverage to support student understanding and pre-writing preparation.
Purpose:
This challenge introduces educators to the STORM tool's capability to generate detailed, Wikipedia-like articles with references and comprehensive overviews. By creating an article on a topic within their discipline, participants can evaluate the article’s accuracy, depth, and any present biases or omissions. This activity encourages educators to integrate AI-generated resources into their teaching thoughtfully, enhancing students' foundational understanding and supporting their research and pre-writing processes.
Challenge:
Create a long form article to support the pre-writing stage of an assignment using the STORM tool developed at Stanford University. https://lnkd.in/dpQx9sSz
STORM generates Wikipiedia-like articles from scratch that include references and a table of contents. You will need to sign up for a free STORM account to access it.
For this challenge consider a topic or area in your discipline and generate an article to provide different views points or to use to help students develop an understanding of that area. How accurate was the article? What perspectives and bias were apparent? What views or aspects were omitted? How could you incorporate this your teaching. Include a the topic and a snippet from the article in the comments below.
I used STORM to create an article about Generative AI and bias. I was generally impressed by the depth and accuracy as well as the breadth of the references. Share your thoughts on the experience in the Challenge 5 Forum.
