Meet your Instructor
Hi! I'm Jason Toal, welcome to this FLO-micro course called “Please, Share with the Class – Creating Online Gallery and Portfolio Spaces, thanks for joining me.
I’m a creative educator, technologist and visual practitioner with decades of experience designing online and media-forward learning experiences. My focus has always been on the ‘user-experience’ in online learning, trying to design and develop engaging learning experiences for the students.
I have learned that having a user-centred approach can make learning more interesting, accessible and fun for students and instructors alike. These days, online learning is often driven by the affordances of the Learning Management System, or LMS which sometimes has gaps when it comes to sharing media like images, audio and video files in a shared space.
As an artist and designer, I also have a huge interest in sharing my creative works online, and have explored many of the tools I will be sharing in this course. I like to think about this as my ‘web portfolio’, but with so many web publishing tools available I was not sure which one would be best for my creative collections. I have used this course myself to publish one very special collection online to EACH of the platforms I am covering. In doing so, I wanted to make some comparisons about the benefits of each, and I hope that by sharing them here, you will be able to find a path forward for you and your teaching.
