Small Group Positionality Sharing Instruction
Overview
In this activity, you will engage in small group Forum: Co-Reflection and Celebration, where each participant will share their positionality statement and provide feedback to others. Please consider this as an opportunity to engage in self-reflection and gain insights from the diverse experiences and perspectives of your peers.
Forum Instructions
- Prepare Your Positionality Statement: Craft your positionality statement using your preferred medium - this could be a text, a digital art collage, a drawing, or even an audio recording. Express aspects of your identity, background, and experiences that shape your teaching/working practices.
- Join Your Group Forum: You will be assigned to a small group forum. Each group will have a dedicated space for discussion and feedback.
- Share Your Statement: Post your positionality statement in your assigned forum.
- Read & Respond: Read the positionality statements of your group members. Provide thoughtful and respectful feedback on other statements. Your feedback should be constructive and aim to foster understanding and dialogue.
Giving Feedback Instructions
Be Respectful and Empathetic: Acknowledge the personal nature of positionality statements. Approach each statement with respect and empathy.
Constructive Feedback: Offer insights or questions that can help your peers reflect deeper on their positionality. Avoid criticisms that are not constructive.
Encourage Dialogue: Pose questions or share your own experiences in a way that encourages dialogue and deeper understanding of diverse perspectives.
Supportive: Make your feedback specific to points mentioned in the statement and be supportive in your language and tone.
Completion and Badge
Marking Completion: Once you have posted your positionality statement and provided feedback on your peers’, mark the activity as 'DONE' in the forum.
Earning the Badge: Completing this activity and marking it as 'DONE' will make you eligible for a badge that recognizes your participation and engagement in this microcourse.
