Hello Sylvia, John, Frances and Alice,

although I would simply love to be with you in Vancouver next month, and take a walk at the English Bay for sunset while having a decent conversation, that's not within reach for me at the moment. That's why I was thinking of your ability to include virtual colleagues, as you're already doing by having this discussion out in the open.

I know this dilemma of presence/absence and inclusion has been discussed in CPsquare recently.

Just wanted to let you know that I'm happy to be here and will think of how to present a case Im currently deeply involved in - an attempt to make room and create opportunity for netowrking and collaboration in an all online conference, for Nordic language educators in November  -  knowing that you cannot BUILD or DESIGN a CoP, only the social framework and inspiration.
Some days ago, I started getting things done by filing papers in a cleanup plastic  "manila" with 13 folders (from a messy desktop), and labeled each of these with the name of one online CoP that I'm connected to, more or less intensely. But at the end I had no folders left! Am I spreading out my atention in too thin layers - or are these interlinking clusters of  CoPs a trend of the early 2000 epoch? Thought provoking; perhaps I should be shamed of joining yet another one:-)

But again, GEN was back in the teenage years of my online life a solid rock, so how could I resist the invitation from you, Sylvia - or rather, I actually read about Scope from an Foundations-of-CoP-workshop-Alumni newsletter you, John, posted this summer, which tells me that were linked even closer than these famous six degrees :-)

Dear Salvor, thanks for bringing a glimpse from the conference in your flickr and youtobe   -  I've blogged your URLs at elgg.
So, how many more degrees are now separating us?
