1. SCoPE Seminar: Open Educational Resources
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
January 19 - February 8, 2009
Facilitator: Scott Leslie
The availability of Open Educational Resources is increasing almost daily. High quality learning materials from reputable institutions are available in many disciplines for both instructors to reuse or student self-study. But how do we find them? What do we need to know about creating, licensing, and sharing them? Join us on Monday, January 19 at 19:00 GMT, 11:00 a.m. PST via Elluminate for the launch of this 3-week seminar.
2. New Home For SCoPE
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We're starting off 2009 with a new URL for SCoPE! Over the holiday break the community site was migrated to a new server and is now fully integrated within BCcampus Online Community Services. SCoPE had its start in 2005 thanks to the Learning and Instructional Development Centre at Simon Fraser University which provided design, coordination, moderation, as well as technical and media design services. With BCcampus support SCoPE members can continue to enjoy free and open access to seminar discussions and other online events. Be sure to update your bookmarks! http://scope.bccampus.ca

3. Learn Together Collaboratory
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In August, 2008 Nancy Randall from Vancouver Island University introduced SCoPE members to a new service that was under development to facilitate professional development and academic collaboration (seminar archive). The design team has made a great deal of progress! The site has been launched and development will continue during 2009. You are invited to create an account on the site, contribute resources, and provide feedback.
* SCoPE seminar: Managing Multimembership in Social Networks
October 27 - November 9, 2008
Facilitators: Sue Wolff, Jeffrey Keefer, Bronwyn Stuckey, Sylvia Currie
We started off this seminar discussion with many questions, and also a feeling that we were all grasping for solutions to help us manage our participation in various social networks. We ended the seminar in much the same state! In our two weeks together we accomplished a lot -- sharing tools and strategies that have helped us cope as individuals and as groups. But we also came to realize that multimembership is an area that we need to explore further. In addition to the forum discussion there is an interesting collection of voice contributions. Sue Wolff provides a nice closing summary of our discussion.
