4. Modules

This course is structured into five daily modules, each designed to support educators in understanding and integrating generative AI (GenAI) tools within their teaching practices. Through hands-on exploration, reflection, and peer engagement, participants will build confidence and develop practical strategies for using GenAI in thoughtful and ethical ways.

Day 1: Getting to Know Each Other and the Toolkit
On the first day, participants will connect with one another and begin exploring the GenAI Toolkit. The focus is on building a shared understanding of what GenAI is and how it might fit into teaching and learning in higher education. Activities include introducing yourself, sharing your goals, and discussing your hopes and concerns around using GenAI in your teaching.

Day 2: It’s Time to Play with Some GenAI Tools
This day is all about trying out GenAI tools and getting comfortable with using prompts. Participants will experiment with tools, share their experiences, and explore ways these technologies can support learning. A key focus will be learning how to craft effective prompts and starting to co-create a shared collection of helpful examples and resources.

Day 3: Discussing Academic Integrity and GenAI
Participants will look closely at how GenAI connects to academic integrity. The module offers resources and discussion prompts that help educators think through the ethical use of AI, the challenges it may bring, and how to guide students in using these tools responsibly.

Day 4: Integrating GenAI into Your Teaching Practices
This module focuses on designing learning experiences that make thoughtful and intentional use of GenAI. Participants will explore ways to bring AI into their teaching while keeping student creativity, critical thinking, and inclusion at the center. Discussions will highlight practical strategies and real-world classroom ideas.

Day 5: Responding to GenAI Uglies and Flourishing Forward
On the final day, participants reflect on the risks, tensions, and big questions surrounding GenAI in education. Together, they’ll consider how to respond to challenges and imagine what meaningful, responsible AI use could look like in the future. The course wraps up with space to share remaining questions and small commitments moving forward.
