Institutional concerns by ◀ |
open (the internet and social media) vs. closed (the LMS). Should we be restricting access to our learning spaces? Registered learners only. responsibility vs. user beware. How do we incorporate teaching using social media tools and approaches when most are delivered via servers based in the US? see FIPPA and the US Patriot Act. What is our responsibility to students? roles vs. integration. How should students learn about digital identity issues? Should this be integrated with our courses? Is it the responsibility of librarians, student development experts? social spaces vs. learning spaces. What is the value in blending these? Do students even want this? | questions | Hilda Anggraeni ◀
Patriot Act by ◀ |
Is it becoming more difficult to stay within geographical boundaries on the Internet? I mean, technically, is it even possible (imagining all those little packets zipping around the globe)? Are there some good summaries of how educational institutions have responded? And curious...Is Patriot Act mostly something Canadians are concerned with, or is it an international issue? | questions | Hilda Anggraeni ◀

Networking: the new literacy? by ◀ |
It sounds like many of us (participating in this forum) are integrating these approaches into our practices - what's the next step? | questions | Hilda Anggraeni ◀
Re: Networking: the new literacy? by ◀ |
I would imagine that it is possible that as students become learners and find other learners who share interests and expertise, their social networks may evolve to support their learning in these ways. On the other hand, if those networks were built for social interaction only, will they make the transiition to something else, and is that what learners want? Will they need to create new sorts of networks for learning and professional activities that don't cross over into the social? | questions | Hilda Anggraeni ◀
And, back to our question of digital identity, how do we build and maintain an authentic online presence if we are working hard to keep our "communities" separate from each other? | questions | Hilda Anggraeni ◀

Opening Activities by ◀ |
How does Personas represent you on the Internet? What/who is included? What/who is missing? "You are what you share." What do you think about this statement from the Leadbeater video? Is this an ideological position? (Thinking about Norm Friesen's work here). What are the implications related to digital identity? | questions | Hilda Anggraeni ◀

Can we tailor how others see us? | questions | Hilda Anggraeni ◀
Re: Opening Activities by ◀ |
What are we learning? Who are we interacting with and why? What pits did we fall into along the way and how can this inform how we guide others who are grappling with these issues along side us? | questions | Hilda Anggraeni ◀

How have these worksheets and activities worked in practice? Have students been responsive to the activities involving role playing, for example? It is wonderful to hear about new ways of facilitating learning in this arena. | questions | Hilda Anggraeni ◀

Why might people be uncomfortable with the concept “you are what you share”? | questions | Hilda Anggraeni ◀
* people share for many reasons – some of which are not what you might call honorable. Does it matter – as long as they are sharing? | questions | Hilda Anggraeni ◀

It takes some time to build a rich, trusted personal network of resources to support learning. Do we value that activity and (if so) how do we support it? | questions | Hilda Anggraeni ◀ | Source | Highlighted Text | Margin Note | User |
