I’m Martha Isabel, many people call me by my nickname, Isa.

I live in Pereira, Colombia. My background is in Systems Technology and Industrial Engineering, with a MA degree in Communication and Education. I’m creator and director of Univirtual, the academic unit in charge of online learning at the Technological University of Pereira. I am also an advisor on virtual higher education at the Colombian Ministry of Education. Projects I am advising include:

a) Transformation of the technical and technological programs from face-to-face to e-learning.

b) Creation of new virtual programs.

c) Participation in communities of practice such as The Virtual Tutoring Network.

I have published about instructional design and virtual education. I’m currently writing about “Practices, attitudes and learning needs with ICT in education”. This is work emerges from research I have made between 2007-2008 as a member of the “Education and Technology” research group.

I teach Computers as applied to education in the Communication and Education Master degree program. I also collaborate with the Resource Center for Teaching and Learning from the University of Lagos in Chile.

I’m interested in knowing about other academic communities doing online learning. It is a pleasure to cooperate with the SCoPE program.
