At present, I am working at the University of Victoria in University Systems supporting planning, operation and adoption of new educational technologies by students and teachers. I began as a computer programmer with a B.Sc. ('75) from the University of Guelph, and, after working in the then Academic Systems department at UVic, "retired" to complete my M.A.('90) in Linguistics. That led to a position as Lecturer in the Department of Chinese, Translation and Linguistics at City Polytechnic of Hong Kong (now City University of HK), an opportunity that let me combine my interests in computing, linguistics and Chinese language (which I used to speak!). For the past ten years, I have been working with faculty and students using Internet technologies.
