Quick Guide to Preparing Documents for Adobe Connect

Several formats are directly supported by AC: PowerPoint (PPT), JPEG, FLV, SWF, MP3, MP4, F4V, ZIP. These documents can be uploaded on the fly. In the case of PPTs, they are automatically converted during the upload.

Several document formats are not directly supported - e.g. MS-Word, Excel. For these document types and others, you have three options:

  1. Convert the document to a PDF. Newer versions of Word and Excel allow documents to be saved as PDF, and some browsers, such as Chrome, have PDF conversion tools.
  2. Print and scan the document into a JPEG. Okay for single page documents but not practical for multi-page documents
  3. Embed the document in a PPT slide. This is fine for very short documents but the slide space is often too limited to show a full page.

PowerPoint presentations also tend toward large file sizes. There are a few things you can do to reduce your PPT files, depending on your version of PowerPoint. Search the software's Help for "reduce file size."
