By this point you should have a website version of your textbook. There is one final step in our adaptation process and that is to create the PDF and ePub documents that you can make available to your students.

To do this in PressBooks, got to Export.

On this screen, you have the option to choose the formats you want to export in, or to change the theme of your book.

Export Options

In addition to a website version of your book, PressBooks let's you output your book into a number of other formats. Standard book formats include ePub, PDF and mobi (required for Kindle as Kindle does not support ePub).

Themes

There are a number of available themes for your book and if you want to change the theme, click the Change Theme button.

Each theme has a number of options that allows you to change a number of export options for your books. To access the options, scroll down to the bottom of the page and click the Change Theme Options button.

You can explore this option if you wish, but for now you can leave the defaults as is.

Export your Book

When you are ready to export your book, click the Export Your Book button. This process will take a few minutes, depending on the size of your book. When the process is done, you'll see links to download the exported files.

From here you can download and distribute the books to your students.
