Gwen Nguyen
Hi everyone. My name is Gwen and I am a Learning and Teaching Advisor at BCcampus. Before joining BCcampus, my journey included a role as a Learning Experience Designer at the University of Victoria, where I supported educators with developing and delivering courses across various modalities: face-to-face, hybrid, and online. My experience also extends to academia, having been a lecturer and researcher at the University of Victoria and the Kanazawa Institute of Technology in Japan. My recent research interests are primarily focused on digital pedagogies in higher education and arts-based teaching and learning practices. At BCcampus, I’ve had the privilege of working with my teammates and contributing to the Digital Literacy Project as a pathway designer. My work has involved in the development of the content for the Superpower Quiz, Digital Literacy mini-lesson plans, among other resources soon to be featured on the Digital Literacy OER site. I believe in the continuous learning and development of our digital literacy skills as facilitators, and in helping our learners to enhance their digital literacy within their respective fields. I am excited to co-facilitate this course alongside Taruna, Helena, and Britt. Our main goal is to foster an introductory understanding of the Digital Literacy Competency Framework and to explore practical applications in our teaching environments.
When I am not at work, I love to spend my time savoring coffee around Victoria. I also enjoy walking, hiking, cooking with my family and my close friends.

I am an advisor of learning and teaching at BCcampus and coordinates the Facilitating Learning Online (FLO) portfolio. I began her career as a high-school teacher in South Africa. Over the past 20 years, I have taught students of all ages and stages on four continents. A golden thread throughout my teaching experiences has been breaking down barriers to learning. Prior to joining BCcampus in 2020, I worked as a career learning and development advisor at Royal Roads University. As an immigrant I value the opportunity to support all students, especially international students, in finding and building their career path in Canada. I am a certified career strategist with Career Professionals Canada and associate faculty at Royal Roads University.
