Course Introduction
Welcome to FLO MicroCourse: Introducing the B.C. Digital Literacy Framework!
This 1-week online course is designed for post-secondary instructors, trainers, and teachers who want to explore and integrate the B.C. Post-Secondary Digital Literacy Framework into their teaching practice.
Course Learning Outcomes
In this course, you will:
- Review the B.C. Post-Secondary Digital Literacy Framework and its eight thematic competencies.
- Improve awareness about individual digital competency levels using a self-assessment (quiz).
- Identify open educational resources aligned with the framework to enhance course content and materials.
- Explore ways to incorporate digital literacy into teaching practices for a holistic educational experience.
- Develop a personalized action plan for integrating digital literacy into teaching practice.
- Collaborate with peers to share reflections, insights, and strategies for effective implementation.
Course Flow
This course is largely asynchronous and you can expect to spend at least 60 – 90 minutes per day over the next five days. However, you are also welcome to invest more time and explore it at your own pace.
The course is structured into 5 days. Each day represents a different learning objective and includes a list of suggested to-dos. While each day stands alone and the activities can be done independently of the other days, it is recommended that you follow along in a sequential order to get the most out of this course.
During the week, you will be invited to participate in a variety of ways. We are mindful of the fact that many of you have competing priorities, and with this understanding, we encourage you to engage in ways that work best for you. Active and timely participation will make this a richer experience for all participants.
While most activities and learning will happen asynchronously, this course has two synchronous sessions:

FLO Badge Requirement
To receive a badge upon completion of this course, you are required to complete the following activities:
1. Share your initial impressions of the Framework in the “I Like, I Wonder” Padlet (Day 2)
2. Share your thoughts and ideas regarding strategies for integrating digital literacy into curriculum design and your teaching approaches. Plus make sure to respond to at least two other posts. (Day 3)
3. Share your Personalized Action Plan outlining your goals, strategies, and timelines for integrating digital literacy into your teaching practice. (by Day 7)
