Case: Sue Bizzy!
Here's the situation: The FLO starts in 3 days, and there are 2 people on the waitlist. You and your co-facilitator receive the following email:
Hello! I am writing to just let you know that I am suddenly and unexpectedly really swamped right now. I just got asked by my Dean (well, volun-told, you know how that goes...) to teach an additional section of a large course, I'm in the middle of marking, and preparing a conference presentation and, for good measure, my elderly mother-in-law is going to arrive this weekend to stay for 2 weeks!
I really need to complete the FLO for future teaching opportunities, and I've been waiting a long time to get in. But, I just want to let you know that I won't be able to be as active as I had hoped. I really regret this because I heard from other colleagues that it's such a great course and I know it's true that you get out what you put in . I also know that "life happens", and sometimes we have to be happy with 70% instead of 110%. So, please just be aware that I'll participate when and as much as I can, but I expect to be more like "auditing" the course. For that reason, please don't assign me to a team.
Again, I'm really sorry. But thanks for your help to make this work!
Regards, Sue Bizzy
