The topic for this week is “Facilitating Online Teams”, therefore you will be engaging in group work using your previously assigned color teams:

Orange Team: Hollaye Macfarlen, Julia Dodge, Myra Rhodes

Blue Team:  Brian Powell, Hope Miller

Purple Team:Darryl Sturmey, Michelle Vanderpol

Green Team:  Lee Pollack, Trish Rampersaud

We’re going to be using “GoogleDocs” (www.google.ca/docs/about/) and a Canadian survey tool called “Fluid Surveys” (http://fluidsurveys.com/popular-topics/canada/) for this group work.

If you are unfamiliar with Google Docs, here is a link - https://support.google.com/docs/?hl=en#topic=2811805  You can also post any questions into the discussion forum located in the Week 4 Mini-Session Activities (Participants) area.

You do not need to set up a Google Docs account if you use the following link:

I will close down the link after the activity is done.

Learning Activity

After completing this week’s required readings AND reviewing the information presented in the case study (available directly under this document link on the course page), each team should complete the following:

  1. a) Identify the main issue presented in the case study,
    b) present a solution for the identified issue,
    c) suggest how an instructor might handle the issue,  and
    d) support your work with evidence from the readings (You may want to divide this activity among team members). Each group should present a unique solution for any issue that is duplicated.
  2. Post your work on the Google Docs site by evening of Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at 1800 hrs. using the template provided (already in the GoogleDoc) -https://docs.google.com/document/d/1h9_9icZkZBV1YDfpaMdddR-Vps18-RAvm7nw0wehmXE/edit?usp=sharing
  3. Review everyone’s postings and be prepared to vote for the team that you believe arrived at the best solution for the case study.  It is OK to vote for yourself!  Record your vote, by 1800 hrs, Thursday, March 12, 2015 using the Fluid Surveys link - http://fluidsurveys.com/surveys/mmaloney/team-work-online/    Note:  “Fluid Surveys” is a Canadian company and all information is compiled and stored in Canada.)
  4. The results of the Fluid Survey will be posted in the discussion forum by 1200 hrs on Friday, March 13, 2015
  5. Please comment on the survey results and respond to one comment, in the Week 4 mini-session discussion form by 1200 hrs, Saturday, March 14, 2015.

Thank you,
