My name is Norma Sherret and I live in Cranbrook, BC amidst the beautiful Rocky Mountains. I am very fortunate to call this area home and I am privileged to live, learn, work and play in the traditional, unceded territory of the Ktunaxa people. I joined the course late last week and I'm working to catch up.
I am unable to upload video or audio but I am working on it….apparently, it's a plug-in issue. I don't really know what that means but I am choosing to see this as a "value-added" learning experience :). I find technology my greatest barrier in any aspect of my teaching practice and so I have to laugh that I am struggling now with the technology while I am attempting to connect with all of you in this course.
I am a Registered Nurse and I teach in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program at the College of the Rockies at the Cranbrook campus. I have been engaged in nursing education for 20 years. I have recently returned to my teaching role after several years in administrative roles at the College so I consider myself a novice in the world of online teaching. I have much to learn and I look forward to learning alongside all of you.
I do apologize for my late introduction. I will work hard to be more connected and engaged in Weeks 2 and 3.
Take good care and I'll "see" you online!
Welcome Norma! Thank you for sticking with it for the audio / video introduction. I visited College of the Rockies in December (Cranbrook & Fernie campus) and found it a beautiful place. Good for you for stepping out of your comfort zone and learning how to teach synchronously online. Hopefully we will see you tomorrow at our synchronous session! Ross
