Well-being in school environments

"The duck was excellent in swimming, in fact better than his instructor, but he made only passing grades in flying and was very poor at running. Since he was slow in running, he had to stay after school and also drop swimming in order to practice running. This was kept up until his web feet were badly worn and he was only average at swimming. But average was acceptable in school, so nobody worried about that - except the duck."

This stood out to me because of the way that student well-being seems to be disregarded. In an attempt to produce "well-rounded" students, the school is producing students that are worn out and stressed. The school environment is unhealthy. It also disregards students values and strengths.
