Welcome to Week 2 of the Adopting Open Textbooks Workshop!

During Week 1 we explored questions around openness in the context of education. This week we'll get into some of the mechanics and considerations of applying licenses to our work.

Here's an outline of where you can choose to dip in, in no particular order:

Activities:

  • View the resources materials posted in the resources section
There are 3 videos, each selected for it's concise explanation of the why and how of creative commons licenses. There is also an article, and, of course, the Creative Commons website
  • Participate in "Ask Paul" -- one-day Q&A with an expert, on 3 October
Paul Stacey of Creative Commons will be joining us for one day (Thursday 3 October) to respond to YOUR questions. Paul is an educator, reseacher, speaker, author, and expert on this topic. We'll create a discussion thread for this activity, so save (or repeat) your questions for this special day!

  • Contribute your thoughts, ideas, resources, questions, jokes... to this forum discussion. Jump in when you feel compelled, and feel free to initiate your own topic by clicking on the "Add a new discussion topic" button
  • Complete the scenario-license matching activity. If you are new to creative commons licenses, this collection of scenarios might make more sense after viewing some of the resources. If you're already familiar with creative commons licenses, you may wish to create your own scenarios. Twiddla a collaborative space so go for it!

Looking forward to the week ahead!
