Hello everyone,
I am pleased to be participating in this event and look forward to getting to know all of you, contributing to the discussions, and learning more about the open textbook movement. I teach in the undergraduate GIScience program at Simon Fraser University. Computing, statistics and geography are major aspects of the work I am involved with. In the current financial climate, course textbook is definitely an issue for students, and when access (cost, availability, etc) is a challenge then there is cause for worry. The open textbook movement seems to provide a useful alternative. Looking forward to learning more in the next month.
