I am the Chief Information Officer at the MGH Institute of Health Professions in Boston, MA. I have been involved in learning, information and technology within higher education for over 39 years. I am interested in learning analytics from both a learner and information systems perspective. I believe learning analytics is the missing component in an institution's information system. The data set available within the context of learning analytics has never been considered part of the information system, yet I consider it the most significant component potentially consisting of the most valuable information on the effectiveness of teaching and learning.
