I suspect I’m just the type of nontraditional student that’s become traditional in online classes. After years of educational advocacy, I’m poised at the brink of returning for a graduate degree either in instructional technology or a more traditional path leading to full PreK-12 teaching licensure here in Nevada (USA). Having volunteered trying to analyze reams of short and long-term test scores and having learned alongside my middle schooler using a variety of Web 2.0 tools in online classes (not to mention being an avid social networker), I’m curious to gain what understanding I can of this new field of Learning Analytics. How can we make sense of the huge amount of data thrown off particularly in online learning situations to create the best possible learning for our students, not just at the university level, but PreK through 12 as well? I’m grateful for this opportunity to learn together!
