At Vancouver Island University, I had the opportunity of leading the task force that created the model for enhanciing teaching and learning, and then directed the Vancouver Island University Teaching and Learning Centre from 2000 to 2009. As part of that role, I provided direction to support scholarly teaching, Teaching Scholars and facilitated many professional development workshops. I was VP (Canada) for the International Society for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning from 2004 to 2007, co-coordinated the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching learning-centred institutions initiative, and served on the leadership team for the British Columbia University, College and Institute Developers’ committee (UCIPD). Penny Heaslip, Diane Morrison and I are co-authors of the Campus-based Educational Development and Professional Learning study.
