    <title>Disclosure Scenario Response</title>
    <link>https://scope.bccampus.ca/mod/forum/view.php?f=4829</link>
<description>Please read the following scenario and
write a paragraph (150-250 words) about how you would deal with the situation
in a trauma informed way. Explain how the actions you would take are influenced
by the readings, discussion, and videos for this course. Reference any campus or community resources you may use.SCENARIO:

It is 6:00 pm. You are eating dinner in
your office before you teach your 6:30 night class. Tonight, your students will
write their midterm. Last week’s class, you did a review to help students
prepare for the exam, which is worth 20% of their grade.

A student comes to your office, visibly
unhappy. You recognize her as a student in your night class, but you realize
she has missed a few classes, including the midterm review class last week.

She tells you that she can’t write
tonight’s midterm exam because her uncle has died and she has to go back to her
community for the funeral. When you express condolences, she breaks down and
then admits that her uncle didn’t die, that was a lie, but she can’t write the
midterm tonight because she’s not prepared. She says that she is very homesick,
she is overwhelmed in all her classes and doesn’t understand the material. She
says she is thinking of just dropping out of school, but she doesn’t want to
let her family down because she is the first person in her family to go to
postsecondary.Make a forum post for your response. Engage with any posts provided by your peers with additional insights, encouragements, and new questions to help them continue in their processing.Note: forum posts can be uploaded PDFs or word documents, written descriptions, videos (using Kaltura, uploaded to Screencast-o-matic, etc.), or audio clips that convey your response to the scenario.</description>
