You recognize her as a student in your night class, but you realize she has missed a few classes, including the midterm review class last week. She tells you that she can’t write tonight’s midterm exam because her uncle has died and she has to go back to her community for the funeral. When you express condolences, she breaks down and then admits that her uncle didn’t die, that was a lie, but she can’t write the midterm tonight because she’s not prepared.
