Session Presenters:
  1. Simonne Dickie, Instructional Designer, will showcase Communications 255, a course in the Renewable Energy and Conservation program at Lakeland College.

    Communicating effectively is an essential skill for working in any industry. C0255 addresses the practice of communication skills within the business environment, including work with scientific literature, proposals and bids, estimates, scientific report writing, business administration details, and customer/employee service.

  2. Mary Burgess,Tracy Roberts, and B.J. Eib from Royal Roads University will showcase the new Instructional Skills Workshop Online course.
This course is designed to help new and experienced instructors achieve success in facilitating learning in an online environment. It introduces participants to key online learning concepts and principles and provides participants with many opportunities to develop their online facilitation skills, as well as opportunities to network and share ideas with other new and experienced online facilitators. The course is designed around "mini-sessions" - short online discussions that will give participants an opportunity to practice online facilitation techniques and receive feedback geared to growth and improvement.

During this session we will be taken on a guided tour of exemplary online courses. There will be plenty of time for questions and answers about the course designs.

How to participate:
To join this web conference, enter this Elluminate room up to 30 minutes before the start of the session.

To log in to Elluminate, type your first and last name, and the initials of the institution where you work (for example Bart Jones UNBC). When you enter the room type your email address in the text chat area or send it to the moderator so we can track who is attending our web conferences.

You will need an audio set up with a microphone. If you have not previously attended an Elluminate Live web conference, please take 5 minutes well before the session to visit
www.elluminate.com/support and follow the steps for first time users. A small Java applet will request access to your PC the first time you use Elluminate, but only the first time.

We will use the Course Showcase forum to share resources and continue the dialogue.
