I am also a great lurker, and infrequent contributor to these forums!

The question about how you measure success is one that I have wrestled with for a long time, and more so now with the RON! Online Network, at http://rplnetworkonline.wikispaces.com.  You can read the Progress report or final evaluations and see that numbers are quoted about membership, hits on the Wiki, participation, etc, but does this mean much.  Anecdotal evidence on the other hand, especially in terms of the emails behind the Google Group, Wiki and Adobe Connect sessions, seem to indicate deeper learning.

Derek and all,

Your barriers to recognition intrigue me Derek, as they have been the subject of much discussion in Australia.  Our Federal and State governments have identified recognition as one of the key strategies to address skills shortages.

Have a look at the RON (RPL Network Online) Wiki - lots of resources, recordings of discussions which address some of the barriers you have hit, and lots more.  It won't solve all your issues! but the network is an invaluable way of learning. there is also a Google discussion group, and online case studies and discussion, live in Adobe Connect.  Details are on the Wiki, and all are welcome to join: http://rplnetworkonline.wikispaces.com

Hi all

Like Frank, the discussions, and more importantly the wide range of people and their experiences, fascinate me.  I usually participate silently :-)

I'm currently relieving Learning and Development Manager for TAFE NSW, South Western Sydney Institute. Our professional development covers a diverse range of staff and locations, and methodologies.

For more information, see our Wiki at http://learninganddevelopment.swsi.wikispaces.net

Thanks Bev.  What a great network this is.  Most of the time I lurk in here, and lurch from meeting to meeting and task to task, so it's refreshing to see what's happening.

I know one of the questions asked in this forum (or maybe it was another!) was about how Web 2.0 is being applied in actual teaching and learning, and this forum goes a long way to answering that question.

I've been using a blend of forums, webboards, Wikis, Blogs, Flexible Learning Toolboxes (learning objects) and LMS's for the last 8 years.  One example, although I'm not sure it goes directly to active learning, which is the basis of whatever tool I use, is at http://designing.flexiblelearning.net.au/learning_design/sequences/NSW/index.htm
