Christina, your comment about pretending to have a conversation rather than delivering a presentation reminds me of advice from one of our SCoPE seminar facilitators, Jesai Jayhmes. During a 2-part seminar called "Humanizing the Online Experience" Jesai led us through a process of learning to speak to the camera. He brought a background in voice coaching and acting, and many of those techniques apply for sure. Have you ever watched an actor on stage and felt like you were the only one in the audience?

Nice strategy! It works!

June, this video suits you! In such a quick video and in so few words you were able to tell us so much just from your calm demeanor, the location you chose, and the way you touched on art, science, and technology.

Am I right that you plan to use your video in more than one course? I didn't notice any mention of course title, time of year, etc. It can be a clever way to go and I'm just curious if that was intentional.

I might steal the sunglasses idea :) I tend to squint and look up when I'm trying to think of what to say. Solves that problem! :)

The breeze caught up with the mic briefly but it wasn't too distracting. A portable tripod instead of trying to hold the camera steady would be one less thing to be thinking about.

Robin and I will both show up in your course, Jacquie! For sure I wouldn't have felt so drawn to the topic by simply reading text. This is a good example of the impact of video for a course intro.

You mentioned that you would like to learn how to upload using Kaltura. I added that question to our Q&A forum, with a link to the instructions. If you get a chance to try it out following those instructions and let us know how it goes that would be so helpful! It would be paying it forward to future #MicroFLO course participants :)

Yes! What June said! You were really shining in this video, Leonne!

Thank you so much for sharing your process, thinking, and reflections as well. THIS is what made me smile:

"I did notice I started to enjoy making these videos the better I got. Now, I am looking forward to making more when I have more time."

Janet, I laughed at your comment about the cheerful music. I thought yes, I am bopping in my chair while looking at a slide that says assessment workflows are stuck in the 19th century. :-D

This is a huge improvement. Slowing everything down make a big difference, doesn't it?

I also found your comment interesting that this process has helped you to clarify what you and your colleague have written about the project. Sometimes being "forced" into a different medium and format can do that. Also, you need to get key points across in a short amount of time, which causes you to sort through what's important.

I don't know if your version of iMovie is the same as mine, but this is how I change font colour:
