Discussions started by Sylvia Currie

We have some volunteers lined up to do the graphic recording of the George Veletsianos keynote. We're all grads of what has come to be known as the #rosviz workshop, facilitated by Nancy White and Michelle Laurie. The first workshop was in 2010 in Rossland, BC hence the 'Ros' part of that hashtag. The most recent workshop was held at UBC in September.

Late Wednesday George will be sending me some notes around the big ideas of the talk. That will help us to plan how we will use the wall space, and to arrive armed with some visuals and organizers to represent those ideas.

Here's the roster:

  • Melissa Jakubec
  • Hilda Anggraeni
  • Jason Toal
  • Sylvia Currie,
  • Leva Lee
  • Tracy Kelly
  • plus anyone who wants to draw!
Materials + Equipment

  • portable 4x6 white boards (the walls in the venu are too bumpy)
  • paper
  • pastels
  • markers
  • plastic drop for the floor
  • kleenex
  • baby wipes
  • tape
  • tablets/laptop - handy for quick searches for visuals
  • notepads - for taking notes!
  • sticky notes - useful for jotting down ideas / words that seem important. Also useful for adding to the wall later (by anyone)

Plan to arrive EARLY on Friday so we can get things organized.

This will be fun! Don't wear your favourite white linen shirt!

Anything else? Any questions?

Thanks everyone for your participation this past week! You raised some interesting questions and offered brilliant responses about Creative Commons Licenses. And it was such a bonus having Paul Stacey join us to respond in depth to some of those questions. Thanks, Paul!

Hopefully the resources and activities this week allowed you to dig a little deeper into the mechanics and considerations of applying the licenses to your work.

Mary is back with us during week 3 to discuss institutional and individual readiness for a shift to open textbooks.

Have you done the scenario - matching activity? Have any of the scenarios got you stumped?

Every time I check in I either see new squiggly lines that peeple have drawn...or a blank page. Unfortunately, it's a little too easy to wipe the page clean!

So if you do go to that activity and the page is blank, a screenshot of the activity can be found here: http://scope.bccampus.ca/mod/page/view.php?id=9364
