If any of you are interested in collaborating on a book chapter on social media in education, please check out thewiki at http://socialmediachapter.wikispaces.com/

Here is a brief introduction from the wiki:

"The book is a collaborative effort with nearly 100 contributors from predominantly post secondary locations all over the world. To date the book has 30 chapters and is still growing. It is being published by the Commonwealth of Learning. Publication date is set for July 13th to coincide with the Fifth Pan-Commonwealth Forum on Open Learning.

The book is a resource that offers practical, contemporary guidance to support e-Learning decision making, instructional choices, program and course planning and development. The working title is "Empowering Education for a Digital World: Advice, Guidelines and Effective Practice From Around the Globe"."

Come on out and contribute - a lot of what we are discussing in this seminar will make great material for the chapter (or chapters). Come on out and contribute!!

To add to Ian's post about the Social Media in Education book chapter, I have a few extra notes.

At our Elluminate meeting on Thursday 22 November we had a gathering of 7 people interested in contributing in some way to the chapter. We agreed on December 30th to complete a draft. A fairly ambitious deadline is needed if we want this chapter to be included in the book launch in July at the Fifth Pan-Commonwealth Forum on Open Learning.

We sketched out some ideas for chapter topics and we need to organize these, fill in the gaps, and see who offers to write which pieces. There are many ways to participate.

Our next meeting is November 30 at 9:30 PST (see world clock) at the BC eLearning Marketplace & Expo community.

Our November 30th Social Media in Education book chapter meeting was very productive. We organized the chapter topics and assigned ourselves to sections. There are still a few sections needing "coordinators" so if you have an interest in what you see, or have ideas for new chapter topics, add your name to the wiki.
